Lepidodactylus lugubris, Locally-bred babies & juveniles available
These small, peaceful, & communal geckos have the softest little chirps!
They're very easy & inexpensive to keep, and they're so very adorable.
3 available
Mourning Geckos can make little chirping sounds, and their common name is said to come from the assumption (upon discovery) that they were mourning the loss of their mates.
Mourning Geckos are communal, live in colonies, and should not be kept alone.
(Not only is it unkind to the gecko, but it's unkind to the keeper-- as you'll miss out on many of the adorable ways they communicate, & the behaviors they use, with each other.)
Mourning Geckos can live up to 10 years in captivity!
These small geckos, (adult size = 3.5-4"/8.5-10cm) reproduce by parthenogenesis, and are all female.
While they're primarily active at night, you'll sometimes catch them grabbing a daytime snack, (or laying where they'll catch some UV light) too.
They enjoy a fruit & insect-based omnivorous diet in the wild, but will thrive in captivity with commercially available crested gecko diets, (like Repashy Grubs 'N' Fruit) and small feeder insects, such as fruit flies, small crickets, etc.
See the Mourning Gecko Care Page for information on feeding, watering, temperatures and lighting.
Shipping orders with this animal are held until temperatures are safe for shipping!
