Uses: Feeder bin cleaning, skull & bone cleaning.
Our Dermestids come on fresh aspen shavings with organic cotton balls.
They do best at temperatures between 70℉ & 80℉, (21℃ & 27℃) & cannot survive freezing temperatures.
Our beetle colony is kept in a covered enclosure indoors, year round, and are only fed captive bred feeders.. This is to prevent wild beetles, pests & parasites (or mites) from getting into/infecting our colony.
Though 25-50 is enough for cleaning feeder bins or for starting a colony, hundreds to thousands are needed to clean an animal skull, (depending on the size of the skull.)
Along with Alphitobius diaperinus, Dermestid Beetles do an incredible job at cleaning bones without leaving marks or stains on them.
